Why I don't have a New Years Resolution

2015 is here. Another year has passed. I’m getting that little bit older (albeit still very young). It’s resolutions time. Where do I want to be this time next year? Am I on the right path? It’s time to set realistic goals.

Like so many people it comes to that time of year where the holiday season starts and we realise that yet another year has flown by, and for all of our achievements, the ups and downs we now begin to refocus on what’s next.

And so the first of January has come and gone (it’s now only the 2nd) and I see and read everywhere the posts about goals, visions, aims and resolutions for the coming year but the one thing that I just can’t do is write my own.

No it’s not because I’m stuck in a rut, and yes part of it is because I’m still trying to figure out what the next 12 months looks like for me, how can I budget, save, achieve, capitalise on opportunities. Most importantly though it’s because I am choosing to think of the 1st of January 2015 as just another day that I can achieve my goals, both short and long term. It’s not to say I won’t dream, plan, write goals and achieve them, I’m just choosing to remember that every single day of every single year is the same and presents the same opportunities as the next. It’s simply a matter of saying yes to the opportunities that YOU want, the ones that make your heart flutter with excitement.

Why plan to start and finish on a certain date? Why not just go and smash those goals, make your dreams come true, write lists, cross things out, redirect, begin again, do whatever you need to do to create happiness in your life. Achieve the things you want to sooner, or take longer, make it as precise and detailed as you want, or simply jump in. The point is, don’t stop, don’t wait for the 1st of January, or the 31st of December, reflect, renew and refocus every single day because your mind and most importantly your heart changes.

Trust that feeling deep in your gut, acknowledge when you hold your breath without knowing, or when your breath catches in your throat, consider those moments and the action or words that brought about that feeling, allow it to sink in, before putting your next foot forward. But ultimately, don’t let it, or anyone stop you. Reflect and let go that which does not serve you (including people too by the way).

Your loves and passions will grow and move and so should you. Be fluid in who you are as a being, say yes more often, know your boundaries and trust your intuition.

That is my mantra for the year and for every year. And as Yoga Girl (Rachel Brathen) says the most important thing is happiness.

Why I'm Wanderlusting

You can read this blog on the Wanderlust Down Under Journal by clicking HERE or simply read it below!

Every year since I turned 18 I have travelled. It may be near, it may be far but there is always an adventure. I’ve played it safe, I’ve gone out of my comfort zone, I’ve worked my butt off and I’ve moved to the other side of the world and back. I don’t think it will ever end, and I hope it doesn’t.

The great thing though is that travelling has encouraged me to be part of a wider global community where I can learn different languages, try different foods, understand the cultural differences of each individual I come across, make friends with people I wouldn’t have ordinarily done so.

It has also opened up a world of opportunities for me as it was while I was travelling that I found my true love for yoga and all that it brings.

That is why I’m looking forward to Wanderlust Festival Cockatoo Island 2015, it’s in my own backyard but it’s an adventure, it brings together a wide range of people of all ages, cultures, experiences to just be there at that point in time enjoying the adventure that life brings to them.

As a yoga teacher, and in life in general it is important to get out of your comfort zone, in fact I don’t think I’ve ever been so far out of my comfort zone. But I can push myself further (in a good way of course) and am looking forward to immersing myself in 3 days of yoga, music, wellness, food, adventures, water sports and more. I can’t wait to hear from key international teachers on everything from health, yoga, food and wellness.

I love learning through experiencing. The practicalities of how the body, mind and soul work are so important to me and not everything can be shown physically but what I am finding through my travels and my experiences in yoga and importantly from meeting others who are on the same path as me is that so much of our emotional or subtle self is expressed and shown in physical traits or feelings.

So what is Wanderlust Festival Cockatoo Island Oz to me as a Wayfarer? It is the chance to learn from the best, to get to know my community from all across Australia and the world, it’s my chance to just be, to take it all in and express myself in the way that I truly love. But most importantly it’s an adventure of a life time, it’s the travel and the wanderlust that I crave the most at this point in time and I am so incredibly grateful and humbled to be able to be part of such a wonderful, creative, inspiring and awesome festival that brings together the global community in all of its wonderful forms.

See you at Wanderlust Cockatoo Island Feb 2015!

Get Active, Nourish & Be Grateful Ebook: A big thank you!

Firstly, I just want to say a MASSIVE thank you!

Thank you to everyone who has supported not only my yoga and SUP yoga career but also my partnership with Nicole De Valter (nee Kropp) in creating a global community that is Active, Nourish, Grateful.

Without your support and eagerness to be part of the information sharing, the ideas, the movement and the soul nourishing goodness we would not be here today releasing our first ever Ebook.

Get Active, Nourish & Be Grateful aims to inspire and provide an easy to follow guide to living your best life. The practical tips and guides in each of the three chapters will give you options to nourish your body and your soul and to try something new. There are no hard and  fast rules in this ebook because Nicole and I believe that everything should be done in moderation, this is something we've learnt over the years and it works - both before and after you make lifestyle changes.

As part of this I've included a meditation mini guide which is a starting point to living a mindful and present life. You can incorporate this with your very own pranayama (or breathing) practice because let's face it, our ability to breathe is our ability to live and yet we very rarely sit down to focus on it. Better yet, use your meditation mini guide, pranayama tips and the yoga flows in the Get Active chapter to really step it up a notch.

Nicole has done a wonderful job on using her Holistic Health Coach knowledge to provide you with guides on super-foods, your very own shopping list that you can print and some absolutely delicious recipes for any time of day that are easy to make and simple to understand. This is something that she has taught me so much about and is always able to provide an answer to all of my questions (even the ridiculous ones).

These recipes have been developed so that there are no surprises when you read the method. This is one of the things we both felt very passionate about as we are too often disappointed after spending hours shopping and prepping our food only to find we don't have a dehydrator or spiralizer!

Most importantly, we wanted to share this information with you because we want to continue to follow your story as you work towards your best and most beautiful self (inside and out).

You can invest in our ebook by following the Active Nourish Grateful links on both of our websites or simply CLICK HERE

Active, Nourish, Grateful is BACK baby!

This is my latest blog from my shortly to be discontinued blog-site... x

I realize that I've been painfully absent from my blogging lately, but I promise it's for a good reason...

Earlier this year I met (again) the stunning and inspiring Nicole Kropp (www.mintandmagik.com) and we got talking over a couple of wines. What we realized was that our paths were meant to merge and that our individual passions which have continued to grow in our respective health and wellness fields are perfect for each other and that we were passionate about sharing that with YOU!

Yesterday, we became a partnership. I think as soon as we made the decision to create an E-book we knew it was coming, but it was kind of like when you first start a relationship and you both know you are REALLY into the other person but you're not sure who was going to say it first. For us, it was part necessity but it made us finally take the leap into what we knew was inevitable - we were going to continue to work together to share our passion for getting active, nourishing our bodies and being grateful and present in this world.

So what have we been up to that makes all of this time of me not sharing any blog love worth it? We have been creating an e-book to share with you all the tips, information and knowledge we have in order to live your best Active Nourish Grateful life.

The other thing I've been creating, which I'm immensely proud of and will continue to build upon is my very own website www.kathardingyoga.com - check it out and let me know what you think?!

My website will be a place that will continue to grow so that I can share latest updates on retreats, workshops, knowledge that I am learning through my blog and more. I will also be selling the Get Active, Nourish & Be Grateful E-book on there so make sure to sign up for updates and you will be notified as soon as it's released!

But for now... apart from maybe one or two more posts on here (which will also be on www.kathardingyoga.com) I will be discontinuing my yogakissbykatharding.wordpress.com account.

Looking forward to seeing you on www.kathardingyoga.com!
